Hebridean Dolphin

The seas around Harris are full of every type of cetacean from dolphins to whales and orcas. You can spot them from the ferry across to the island, from the promontry next tro Eilan Glas or on one of the whale watching tours.

This suncatcher has the colours of the sea from the deep blue ocean through to the surf and some specially made granite glass as the shoreline. A dolphin is picked out in blue glass at the base.

The suncatcher is made from hand cut pieces of glass, assembled and fired in my kiln at home. The colours are made of individually cut pieces of transparent glass. These have been placed on a clear glass base and fused at a lower temperature to maintain a textured yet glossy finish.

This sun catcher measures 15cm by 4cm and has a small wire loop embedded in the top. It comes with in a gift box with a loop of raffia to hang it where it can catch the light.
